Takao Aoki PM (Waseda University/RIKEN) gave a lecture at Ohmori Lab.

Prof. Takao Aoki (Waseda University / RIKEN), Program Manager of the Moonshot Goal 6 project “Large-scale Quantum Hardware Based on Nanofiber Cavity QED,” visited the Ohmori Lab, accompanied by his team member Senior Research Scientist Shinya Kato (RIKEN).

Among the six hardware platforms currently under development in Moonshot Goal 6, both the Aoki Project and the Ohmori Project are exploring quantum hardware based on neutral atoms. While we at the Ohmori Project are developing two-dimensional arrays, the Aoki Project is taking a completely different approach using nanofiber-based cavity QED.

Prof. Aoki gave a lecture during the visit, which was not only fascinating but also highly informative for all members of the Ohmori Project. We truly appreciated the opportunity to exchange insights and deepen mutual understanding across our teams.

The visit happened to coincide with the stay of our PI, Dr. Tom Noel, who was visiting Japan from the United States. Taking advantage of the timing, we held our annual summer “Nagashi Somen” (flowing noodles) party at the lab, where members of both projects enjoyed casual interactions and strengthened their connections through this fun and uniquely Japanese tradition.
